Visbion Unveils Disaster Recovery Solutions
Visbion presented their ImageSafe solutions at a meeting in St Helens attended by over 80 people from a number of Trusts in the North West and West Midlands area. The aim of the meeting was to highlight the risks involved with image storage and explore the potential solutions available to combat the 20 week recovery scenario should a disaster occur.
Visbion ImageSafe is a Managed Service delivered by Visbion in partnership with Xograph Healthcare. Offering a true disaster recovery as well as a business continuity solution, ImageSafe can be delivered in two formats:
1. Independent back-up self-contained PACS packed into a flight case, which can be deployed into an existing or alternative server room
2. Incorporated into a 20ft container; complete with “silent-run” diesel generator, small server room with air conditioning, radiology reading room and PACS workstation
For both the above options a monthly retainer is charged to guarantee availability - with a deployment charge payable only when the service is actually needed. As a fully Managed Service, the Trust may also be able to benefit from full VAT recovery and the elimination of capital charges. There is a single contact telephone number for rapid deployment.
The image management system within ImageSafe is based on Visbion IPACS, a full web-based system with diagnostic quality images displayed quickly and easily within a web browser at any suitable workstation or PC.
Stefan Claesen, Visbion’s CEO said “We believe that ImageSafe is a complete disaster recovery solution; not just another set of servers which sit around and do nothing for most of the time and are obsolete when disaster strikes. Disasters are not selective as to which part of the hospital they may hit. For example a flood or a lightning strike are very likely to take out more than one server room and then standard contingency plans are rendered useless. With a duty of care to maintain should a disaster ever strike, we believe that ImageSafe offers ultimate peace of mind and security for a Trust.”
Peter Staff, MD of Xograph Healthcare added “Xograph has extensive experience in providing disaster recovery solutions as a Managed Service to public bodies such as the Home Office and British Airports Authority. The company has been established for over 40 years with engineers and resources available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, across the country.”
