09-Dec-2008 - VPACS Connects Dual Sites for Liphook Equine Hospital
Visbion has recently installed the Visbion VPACS System at Liphook Equine Hospital.
Liphook Equine Hospital, one of the largest of its kind in the country, is based in Hampshire and has a branch practice in Newport, Isle of Wight. The Visbion VPACS solution is connected to the existing modalities – the CR system, MRI scanner, ultrasound and endoscopy in Liphook and the CR system at Isle of Wight.
Images from the CR system on Isle of Wight are sent to the Visbion Image Cube, where they are compressed, encrypted and sent to the main VPACS Server at Liphook. These images are then available for viewing at either site.
Visbion’s Image Web enables the vets and nursing staff to view images anywhere within either practice from any PC, laptop or Diagnostic Workstation. They can also call up images and records when off-site, using a laptop with web access.
Susan Northwood, Visbion’s Veterinary Consultant said “VPACS is a flexible solution which is ideal for connecting multiple sites. By using Visbion Image Cube’s leading edge technology, images can be securely transferred from Isle of Wight, whilst Image Web allows quick and easy access to patient images, either within the practices or whilst vets are out on visits, attending race meetings, or out of hours at home”.
Jane Boswell, a Partner at The Liphook Equine Hospital said “this VPACS system has made a big difference to the way in which we can access and archive images and records from any site, which will not only make things easier for the veterinary and nursing staff, but also be of benefit to our clients”.
17-Nov-2008 - Animal Health Trust chooses Visbion VPACS
Visbion has installed its leading edge VPACS Enterprise System and Diagnostic Workstations at The Animal Health Trust, Centre for Small Animal Studies in Newmarket, Suffolk.
The Centre for Small Animal Studies is one of the largest multidisciplinary veterinary referral clinics in the UK. VPACS will connect to their existing MRI scanner, ultrasound, CR system, as well as providing expansion capability to connect a CT scanner in the future and creates a single image archive across all devices.
All the vets, clinicians, radiologists and nursing staff can now view and manipulate patient images throughout the hospital. Visbion’s Image Web solution allows quick and easy access to diagnostic quality images via a standard web browser on any networked PC.
Visbion’s Image Viewer Software allows diagnoses to be made by the team of 5 veterinary radiologists on high resolution diagnostic workstations. Images from referring vets can also be imported and displayed on the dual diagnostic screens, ensuring rapid and accurate reporting of these often complex cases.
Ruth Dennis, Head, Diagnostic Imaging Unit at the AHT said “The Visbion workstation displays images of extremely high resolution and is very user-friendly, even for people unfamiliar with digital image systems. It allows many post-processing functions to be carried out and image manipulation is easy. In particular, measurements (including the Norberg angle for hip scoring) can easily be performed”
Victoria Johnson, one of the AHT’s Senior Clinical Radiologists added “The transition from analogue to digital radiography has increased efficiency of our radiography service; saving time, money and archiving space since we no longer print films routinely”
In the future, the Clinic may also consider enabling external access for teleradiology, so that radiologists who are working off site can interpret the images from home, saving them from a trip into work at unsocial hours. VPACS provides them with this additional functionality.
04-Nov-2008 - Visbion and Sybermedica agree partnership
UK imaging technology companies Sybermedica and Visbion have partnered to create a new pay-per-use network that allows veterinary practices to access remote radiology reporting expertise via the Internet.
Veterinary practices of all sizes are replacing their older x-ray film processors with digital (CR or DR) systems, which eliminate the need for chemical development of film. The new system uses Sybermedica's PACSMail service to enable transmission of digital x-rays from the vet practice to any Visbion imaging network in place, allowing radiologists to view images and create reports via a web-interface. Reports are then sent back on-line to the referring vet.
Visbion is UK leader in veterinary image archive and display solutions and works in partnership with a number of leading imaging equipment vendors and resellers.
Visbion CEO Stefan Claesen said 'Visbion VPACS solutions have been installed by most of the large veterinary centres in the UK, including veterinary schools and specialist referral centres, but also some smaller veterinary practices. Linking these sites to Sybermedica's PACSMail service provides our customers with a simple and cost-effective means of building a 'virtual' clinical practice to sell their expertise to colleagues around the UK'.
Sybermedica's PACSMail service is already in widespread use in the medical
arena, especially in sports medicine, where radiologists, physiotherapists and
sports club doctors use the service to share images and reports on injured players. The service has been used to provide diagnostic services to many of the UK's leading sporting organisations including Premier League football and rugby clubs, the RFU,UKA and English Cricket Board.
Sybermedica's CEO Stephen Gatley said 'the key to PACSMail's success has
been its ease of use. It takes just a few minutes to set up an account and you can then share images with any other user, anywhere, anytime. Linking to Visbion's technology means that vets with CR systems can now send images directly to any centre with a Visbion PACS, allowing their specialists to view and report images using the system's dedicated veterinary image viewer. The new network enables veterinary practices to provide their clients with access to world-class diagnostic and treatment support services irrespective of practice size or location'.
